Is There a Confidentiality Agreement Signed by Shredding Services?

By Paul McDuffy Platinum Quality Author

If your company is large enough that you require the services of a paper shredding company, the truth is that you're probably dealing with truly massive volumes of documentation that needs to be destroyed. It would be impossible for one person to keep track of every single document and make sure that any which contained important information were never exposed to even the shredding company. Instead, it is easier to realize that paper shredding companies exist to help you protect your privacy and that of your clients, and that you don't have to worry about protecting it from them, especially because they should be more than willing to sign a confidentiality agreement before going to work for your company.

Many might feel bad about asking a company to sign a confidentiality agreement before hiring them to do something as simple as shred your documents. You should not, and this is something that you should absolutely insist on from every shredding company that you do business with. This is such common practice that many of these companies actually include a confidentiality agreement of some kind in their basic contract of service that they offer to you.

Don't let that be enough though. It is very important that you are well protected in this area, because the information that belongs to your customers or employees is yours to protect until it is completely destroyed, meaning you would be liable if anything leaked. You should have your legal advisors draw up a confidentiality agreement that will be iron clad for the workers at the shredding company to sign before they ever lay hands on one of your important documents.

These papers actually typically need to be signed by several people at the shredding company. You should send over a copy to be signed by the manager or the owner to show that there is a confidentiality agreement in place between your two organizations. You should also require though that the employees who come to your site each sign one as well. Anyone that touches any of your paperwork needs to be legally bound to protect the information contained in those documents.

This might sound like a lot of preparation and suspicion, but it's not. Many companies have faced lawsuits because they did not adequately protect confidentiality. A simple agreement between you and a shredding company will help make sure that this never happens to you.

Paul McDuffy is a consultant for document shredding companies and New Jersey document destruction companies as well as international courier service businesses.

Consultants and others who manage service businesses generally have nothing more then their time to offer. Trouble is, time is invisible and the clients frequently seem to think you have a never-ending supply of it.

An additional problem is that clients often believe your time is elastic, and you can stretch an hour to fit a series of new tasks which they think up. No matter that you submitted a proposal or scope of engagement and spelled out what would be done, the phone calls always come in: "... and another thing we'd like you to do...". Even
if the client is willing to increase the budget - very unlikely! - the fact that you can only do so much in any given hour puts a brake on handling these extra duties, unless you are prepared to work 24/7.

The other problem with running any kind of consultancy, is that time, of itself, has no intrinsic value, only the value we ascribe to it. What you can charge for your time - and clients' perceived value of your service - is dependent on a lot of external factors, such as market conditions and the state of the economy.

That's why it's a good idea, early on in your practice, to see if it's worthwhile to stop referring to what you sell as 'billable time' in favor of finding another descriptor that forestalls a lot of arguments. One way to get away from wrangles over what you could do with your time is to start referring to what you offer as your 'inventory' or your 'capacity'. These terms offer more concrete visualizations to the client and will put a damper on some of their unreasonable expectations.

This way, you'll never be at risk of blurting out "But I don't have enough time!". With the time argument, people can always suggest that you can find some more - "Couldn't you fit it into your lunch hour? You can skip going to your school kid's school performance" and so on. If you say instead: "Sorry, I'm all out of inventory" or "Geez, we'd love to help you but we're already at full capacity utilization until the first week of next month", it weakens their arguments that you can just fit in one more thing.

It's a lot harder for clients to argue that you should get some more capacity or acquire more inventory on the fly; both terms suggest it may take - you guessed it! - time to build up.

There will never be any more hours in the day than the current 24, just as there will always only be 7 days in a full week and five or fewer in a working week. Referring to what you offer in the more concrete terms of inventory or capacity will put what you offer on a more business-like footing - and help you save some free time for yourself!

Great Business That the Fisherman Knows

By Jared D. Ingram Platinum Quality Author

People tend to think that a higher level of education would translate into bigger income. Although this may be true, you need to take into consideration though that education would not guarantee big income, although it may help you achieve it. The difficult thing about education is that it's expensive and it takes a lot of time.

In business, money is time. And the truth is that in order to be financially successful, you don't really have to be college graduate or something. Having common sense, the right motivation, dedication and commitment could actually bring you to
places. One way is by taking advantage of the online community, looking for businesses that let you share products and earn money through networking.

There is this story about a fisherman who knows a great way to earn residual income - that is, a long-term financial reward that you could gain through networking, which in turns allows you to earn money without having to work all the time. In the story, a businessman meets a fisherman who sells fish in his small boat. The businessman asked him how long it took to catch fish, to which the fisherman answered that it took just a little while. The businessman wondered why the didn't fisherman take more time to catch more fish, and he was astonished when the fisherman explained that he didn't need to, and that during his free time, all he had to do was to spend time with his friends and family and do whatever he wanted. That's because the fisherman knows how to do business in a network marketing company that enabled him to get a substantial amount of money every week.

The businessman thought about it and was amazed that the fisherman was able to live his life without having to go through 15 or 20 years of hard work in business, like owning his own cannery. In the story, it's obvious that the fisherman knows the advantages of residual income from networking in comparison to other businesses. It does not require him to work so hard because through networking, other people could be working while he is away.

Networking by itself is not very easy. You need to find the right people - your downline who would hopefully recruit other people successfully. But face it, not everyone does a great job in recruiting and you'll need to have an efficient system to do the job. One widely acceptable and successful system is the postcard system which involves you mailing out postcards that promote your business. Every single detail about the business is stated in the attractive postcard and there's even a command center or organizational office that would train the new recruits. So that means that with this job, you just like the fisherman, could sit back and wait for the money to come in. That's why the postcard system is said to be automatic.

Now you know what the fisherman knows, use this information to let the postcard system earn money for yourself, and get you some residual income right away.

Offshore Company Formation - Why Should You Go?

By Pirasanth Ravi Platinum Quality Author

Usually people get some negative mindset about forming an offshore company that people try to incorporate an offshore business to hide some shady deals but it is relatively not valid as offshore business serves some world's best advantages that an onshore company can never give.

If you seriously have some adequate amount of money as balance then it can work as financial benefit to start up a new offshore company that can protect your assets. An offshore company proves as a company that is registered or authorized in a country other than the country or region where it proves the maximum of its expansion in business. While there are many justified reasons that favor an offshore company formation including tax savings, fewer amount of fees, anonymity, asset protection and many more.

While some other extra-ordinary advantages of forming an offshore company is the capability to trade and deal internationally, financial confidentially, simple operation and reporting, land ownership in an abroad country, increasing monetary flexibility and solitude. You will observe and discover that offshore companies offer indeed a high profile and satisfaction of asset protection than setting up your company in UK or US. Majority of abroad or offshore regions will definitely allow you to form an offshore company in such a way that earnings & income are fully fortified from all future responsibility.

Offshore business formation also allows you the business confidentiality and privacy that an onshore business can never offer. For e.g. in authorities such as Panama a person can incorporate an offshore company without using their real name, yeah real name! This can provide a height of anonymity that is not possible in business strategies of UK or USA. This type of Legal Corporation is identified as an anonymous or mysterious bearer share corporation. Panama offers some bank secrecy laws that are not enforced anywhere else in world.

In order to conclude that an offshore business would benefit you or not, it is necessary to establish the authority most favorable for you. It always comes to the gate of an expert suggestion when thinking about planning a new offshore business.

Offshore Business Establishment - A Guide

By Pirasanth Ravi Platinum Quality Author

Offshore companies are also known as International Business companies (IBC) and are distinct legal entities that can be indulged to all purposes & principles, same like an individual. Also, an offshore company formation comes along with loads of benefits and characteristics.

An offshore company is formed because of one major reason i.e. 'Tax Saving'. Populace of high tax countries from America, UK or Australia mostly opts for an offshore company formation to reduce their own personal tax. The only reason why those companies are registered in an 'offshore' jurisdiction is because those locations are low on tax grounds and they are facilitate for avoiding all most all charges of tax until they enter into any kind of business in the authority or jurisdiction.

Well vast number of authorities and individuals are taking some sincere steps to incorporate abroad leaving their native resident country where some major business connections are conducted. Why would anyone not set up for offshore business connections when they are more prior in benefits than the onshore business.

Actually five main reasons makes the idea of an offshore company formation more active and prompt.

1. Reduce Tax Benefits: An offshore company benefits you from reduced tax properties. An offshore business or company navigates business from paying higher amount of taxes comparing to onshore business.

2. Simple Operations & reporting: Except some regulated corporations such as banks or other legal financial institutions, few jurisdictions make it reasonably simple to set up and sustain companies especially with reference to easier & simple reporting requirements than so-called onshore jurisdictions.

3. Legal-Asset Protection: An offshore business formation and company offers legal asset protection by making it more confidential and private.

4. Fees: Offshore jurisdiction imposes much lesser fees than the onshore jurisdictions. Thus incorporating a business in fewer fees jurisdiction also enhances motive for an offshore business formation.

5. Anonymity: Last but not the least; it is beneficial to establish an offshore company by using the nominee manager or director as a secret man of the company who ensures maximum confidentiality and anonymity of business corporations and affairs.

Sourcing Parking Permits Online - Hints to Avoid Disappointment

By Mark J. Trumper Platinum Quality Author

Controlling your parking, issuing parking permits and making sure only authorized staff and users take advantage of your facilities is one of those aspects of running a business which can give you a major headache, but really, is a minor issue which shouldn't be dominating your time. Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, you are going to have to implement parking control of some description to avoid staff disputes and even worse, customers trying to park, can't find a slot because someone has taken them over and simply heading down the road to buy from someone else!

The issue arises in that parking permits can take you time to source and find a reliable supplier to deliver them to your individual needs, and even worse, parking permits will be used over time and need to be replaced frequently as people lose them or they are issued for one-time use.

This is why the internet has come to take such a chunk of the parking permit market - it is quick, cheap and easy to get the product you want changed and re-ordered. But all this presupposes you have found a supplier who will handle your needs to begin with, so how do you find someone you are never likely going to meet who will do this for you over the world wide web?

First of all, all that you see on the web is not necessarily what you will end with in practice. Ignore the hype and glossy websites and check for customer reviews elsewhere on the web to see who is getting a positive press. You can check any company you are short-listing against these forums and consumer sites and see what other customers are saying about them. If you find a company with positive reviews and they appear to be able to deliver the product you need, you are well on the way to choosing your supplier. A word of caution though, just because you see negative reviews does not mean the supplier is not up to the job - good news is usually that there is no news!

You can also check the bona fides of the website itself very easily. Almost every site has an "About Us" section and here you will find information such as telephone and address information. Check that the telephone number given actually exists - call it because it ought to be a toll-free number, and check that it is in service. Check that there is a physical mailing address and not simply a PO box which a scam artist is able to hide behind.

A good, online print partner for parking permits will provide templates and design services, especially if they are experienced in delivering this type of product. The general feel of the web site should convince you that this is a company which knows what it is doing, understands customer needs and that they are all different. You ought to be able to "play" with design online and be able to get help from the company when you cannot see how their standard product offerings can help. At the end of the day, you choose to deal with a company online in exactly the same way you choose partners and suppliers in the real world - by how they treat you.

By Mark Trumper, President of MaverickLabel.com, the Internet's leading provider of custom labels, stickers and decals. From parking permits, to window decals to shipping labels, MaverickLabel.com can provide all of your label needs. Call 1-800-537-8816.

Electronic Sign Advertising - Do You Need an Electronic Message Center?

By Diane Harris

Drive through any major business district or along a freeway or other major thoroughfare, and you'll see a wide variety of electronic sign advertising. The bright colors and moving images or scrolling text of these digital signage systems call attention to many different types of businesses or organizations.

What about your own business? Do you need an electronic message center to catch the attention of passersby and potential customers?

There are many options to choose from. Whether you opt for a scrolling text message or a full-motion video, there are animated LED or LCD signs available to fit just about any need or location. Electronic message centers are truly effective attention-getters.

Studies have shown that people are more likely to remember a colorful animated sign than a static billboard. This translates into increased traffic and increased sales. Also, because the electronic sign's message can be easily changed, passersby won't get tired or bored with seeing the same message over and over and eventually begin to ignore it. The message will always be new, and an engaging display that changes frequently is more likely to catch the eye than a non-mobile sign. A sign that changes periodically or cycles through a series of messages provides a fresh visual presentation at each change, making it more memorable than one that remains the same.

It's been said that the moving images or scrolling text of electronic sign advertising can be distracting to automobile drivers passing by. However, research has shown that this has not been the case.

Here are some important things to keep in mind when considering installing an electronic signage system: There are some states that prohibit the use of animated billboards. Some limit the timing of these signs. Plus, a lot of states have banned the use of any flashing red lights on electronic message boards because they are deemed too distracting. So, if you are considering the purchase and installation of digital signage, do your homework first - check to see what your state will allow and will not allow.

Also, different states have different requirements regarding such things as sign size, materials, illumination, placement and installation. Cities, too, may have sign restrictions that you must take into consideration. You should also check out any local or state zoning laws before making your final choice of signage system.

It's true that costs are higher for electronic message boards than for standard billboards. On the other hand, improved technologies are continually bringing those costs down and making this type of sign more affordable than ever. Also, a more noticeable sign is more likely to bring in more business, which in turn results in increased sales of your products or services.

Whether your company is located along a freeway or other major roadway, electronic sign advertising can set your business apart from all the others. So, do you need an electronic message center to increase your sales potential? Check into the options available today.

The author of this article has vast experience in advertising with signs. The articles written by the author are great resources for those who are looking for custom sign designs. Nothing can replace the custom sign designs in effective advertising. The author knows all about sign manufacturing Colorado as well.

The Importance of Keeping Cables Tidy in Your Office

By Derek Rogers Platinum Quality Author

With the array of technology and ever changing electronics that come and go during the lifetime of an office, you've probably had to move, swap and rotate various items in that time. After a while though, cabling can become a knotted mess. This is especially true with systems that have had to replace certain components and many times; particularly as it is often tempting to take the equipment out of the box and start using it, kicking the cabling to the side.

There are numerous health and safety issues at play whenever you have trailing cables, tangling in and out of desks and along corridors; but human danger is equally replicated with the computers, networks and other devices themselves.

Untidy cabling can lead to trip and fall accidents or equipment being pulled off a desk and broken. The more complicated the network becomes the more crucial it is to keep cables tidy, wrapped up and marked. This might be easier said than done as the system has probably developed over a period of time and you are afraid to disconnect certain cabling for fear you won't get the network back up. This is where a network support company can help you because it can save service call time later, when you have to figure out what cable goes to what, when it is coming through several hubs or routers.

When you consider that many network support company calls end up being for bad cable ends, either because they have been pulled too tightly or they have been pulled out of their connection port, you can see the importance of keeping cables tidy to save on your computer network service calls; particularly when you factor in the associated costs. Keeping your cables tidy makes it easy to change out bad routers and hubs or a printer that has multiple users. Because many of the small and medium sized companies may have networks that contain a rack system with a switch, hub, routers and more, you can see how important it is to have cables that aren't tangled and clearly marked.

While the process might take a little bit of time, it is so much easier to troubleshoot cables that have come loose, or ports that have gone bad. You have to consider tidy cabling as an investment that will pay off in later frustration and service call time. Of course, the easiest thing is to wrap and mark cabling as you add it to your system. This just takes a few seconds more but can save a lot of time later, so it is definitely worthwhile. Each time you add new printers, monitors, or workstations, tidying the cables should be part of the installation.

As we get more electronics in our offices, the importance of keeping tidy cables in your office will become more evident. There are many mishaps that have happened when somebody accidentally trips over a cable or gets one wrapped around the wheel of a rolling office chair. Tidy cables can protect your equipment, your employees and save time, particularly when it comes to troubleshooting a network problem. The importance of keeping cable tidy in your office includes savings on service calls, broken equipment, and trip and fall accidents.

Derek Rogers is a freelance writer who writes for a number of UK businesses. For information on Structured Cabling, he recommends Network 24.

What Do Private Equity Firms Do in the Modern Economy?

By Gino Hitshopi Platinum Quality Author

The term Private Equity is one that many of us have heard at some point - especially over the last few years. But the term tends to cause some confusion as regards what it actually means. In this article we'll go over some of the main principles behind it as well as the range of opinions that have been formed - because the process of private equity is sometimes controversial.

Private equity firms basically find firms to buy with a long or medium term view of making them profitable once again. The art of private equity is the ability to pinpoint firms that have great potential, but that have not yet realised that potential. The idea is to find the quickest route to profitability, before selling the company for a substantial profit.

Private equity firms raise their capital from private sources, as opposed to public ones. These sources might be wealthy individuals or pension funds etc. The whole process is focussed on the idea that profits should be made quickly and overall rewards are enjoyed as quickly as possible.

Most governments around the world as well as the British government believe that private equity companies contribute a great deal to the British economy, by improving market discipline and generally making companies much more competitive. Since 1983 the industry has invested in excess of 80 billion pounds in about 29,500 UK businesses.

The process is sometimes criticised in some quarters as it is deemed unnecessarily harsh on failing firms. In many cases assets of the company will be sold off with little regard to the effects on the workforce. Sometimes called 'asset stripping', it can result in many redundancies, which obviously cause a great deal of hardship in the associated worker's families and have knock on effects for the whole community.

Another criticism is that many of these important decisions are made behind closed doors without the any dialogue between many of the parties involved.

Companies such as the AA and Birdseye have been subject to private equity firms and as such they have both had what is regarded by some as harsh decisions made with regards to them. This essentially means job losses, the cold side of modern capitalism.

Arguably these firms would not survive without some kind of large scale over-hall and re-investment, and so many would argue that they simply speed up any ill-effects of a firm's situation and propel it towards profitability more quickly. Ultimately, they are a reminder that everything is done for the good of the profit margin and not the good of the worker.

Gino Hitshopi is highly experienced in the realm of private equity, having worked in the investment industry for many years. For more information please visit: http://www.preqin.com/section/private-equity/1

Cheap Merchant Account Rates

By Ricky Lim Platinum Quality Author

There are some few factors that an individual should follow in order to be able to keep a merchant account rates that fees are low.

For those business individuals that have the fear of their profits being swallowed up by expenses and charges, then they are bound to refuse accepting credit cards as a form of payment.

One of the few factors that a business person should ensure that are followed is the art of comparison.

The first step for those who are new in field of merchant rates is that they should visit as many merchant account providers as possible or as many banks as possible in order to be able to establish where they can get the best offer on merchant account rates.

Another way of being able to locate the best merchant account provider is by asking for several referrals from local banks and colleagues who are involved in the accounts rates business.

It is quite hard to come across reasonable rates because many merchant account rates providers have very complicated interest rates.

This is to say that you should be cautious before signing or committing yourself in any way because you will mostly find that they have advertised their discount rate as the purchase price percentage that you are charged on any transaction that you make on Discover, master Card or Visa.

It might also mean that by getting a low advertisement rate, it does not mean that that you will get the best deal. It is not the merchant account rates that should be considered all the time.

If in your business you handle returns from your customers, then you should go out and try to find out whether your bank uses net or gross processing.

If it happens to offer net, then that means that the bank will refund you for the returns made and if it happens to offer gross, then you will have to make transaction fee yourself when customers make returns.

Another thing that you should find out about your bank is if it does monthly or daily discounting.

This is because if you find out then you will be in a position to know which discounting that is convenient for you.

In the daily discounting, the company's funds for transactions are deducted by the bank on a daily basis, while the same happens monthly if the bank makes monthly discounting.

Dental Office Design Provider - How to Find the Right One

By J.F. Lucero

Are you looking to find a good deal on dental office design services? The process of finding one for your next project isn't really that hard as long as you know the criteria in finding a qualified designer. Nevertheless, it is so important to be careful in your search for a professional dental design service provider as the job requires a very complex process. If you know exactly what you are looking for and you are certain of the things you want to happen, then, this will create an opportunity for you to have some offers for great deals and discounts.

The most important thing that you should be certain of when you are looking for dental office design service provider is the amount of money you would like to spend on the project. It is very important that you have this information ready so you'd know what to expect out of the project. Renovating an office or a complete redesign requires a considerable amount of money and can often result to a disaster if not planned properly.

When it comes to design, you must choose a provider that has already performed same nature of work and someone who is ready to give you some good references. These people must know how to draw attention of potential customers so as to open an opportunity for you to gain more business without the need to overspend on this process.

An office should be designed to increase productivity of the employees as it plays a very important part on the employee to complete his tasks. A good office design is important if you want to provide your employee with a comfortable and efficient work area. This will result in people to effectively work and boosts their spirits.

Your office is where your employees spend 8 to 10 hours a day working and making it feel like home for them is something that you can do to help them become more effective and efficient in everything they do.

It is always true that it takes time and money to design an office. This is maybe the reason why most companies are not really putting it as one of their top priorities. More often we see that offices do not reflect the employees' individuality. Company owners fail to see that when the employees are satisfied, they are more productive and this may lead to increased profits. Designing an office however depends on the set of needs of each individual or group working in an office. A professional interior designer should also be present to discuss with the employees their needs to make their work space become more efficient.

Your designer must be able to listen and put your ideas into reality. It doesn't have to involve a major change or major replacement of old furniture to new ones as a good designer is someone who can make use of the existing ones to create a brand new atmosphere and a well designed workspace without the extra budget.

If you need help in your next office interior design and construction, we are willing to help. Design Konzept Solutions provides a state-of-the-art dental office design that is affordable. We offer free integrated dental office interior design with every package.

A. Immediate Transition phase
B. Transition phase

Immediately after the merger / acquisition, Issues such as New appointments need to be made, list of Redundancy announcements need to be made, Restructuring of the various departments need to be done to make the organisation an agile corporation and Divestment needs to be considered.

In Transition phase, we need to Fine Tune the organisation further to enable the organisation to remain lean and agile. Further re-structuring and job transfer need to be done to get the right fit. We cannot ignore Cross-Cultural differences which are the Nemesis of many a mergers.

Why mergers actually fail is because of a clash of corporate cultures:

Have we addressed the cultural incompatibilities
Was cultural due diligence done correctly
Did we undertake cultural audit
Did we create Knowledge maps

And when we fail to predict the dissonance which will arise in Corporate Matchmaking because of the dissonance in organisation structures, problems will arise. Dissonance in Beliefs, Values, Norms and Behavior is the main reason why mergers fail.

Further, were similarities and differences assessed, do organisations have mutual respect for each other, do they acknowledge professional and individual competence, business capability etc. Is there a dissonance between hopes & expectations, vision statements, mission statements etc.,

What synergies exist

Is there trust in discussing difficult issues and handling conflict?

Is there commitment by both parties to succeed, 99% mergers fail because all you did was financial due diligence. Have you looked at the dissonance between vision and strategic objectives and goals of both companies.

Further the External environment is Quicksilver

To handle multiple quicksilver environments, is why we require Competitive Intelligence

How to Measure For Serpentine Tables Or Feeder Tables

By Charlotte Sorrentino Platinum Quality Author

Serpentine tables are generally used in dining facilities to create an interest in how food is served or as a main table. Some facilities want to buy a tablecloth that drapes over or some want skirting and others want fitted cloth or fitted drop-overs to accommodate these odd shaped tables. Whatever design you want you must give the proper measurements so the cloth can be made properly.

Serpentine tables are like no others to cover because they have 4 measurements for tablecloths to fit correctly. Most people get the linear dimensions from the table manufacturer and think these dimensions will suffice, they don't. These measurements are designed to aid the purchaser in knowing how much space they will take on their dining floor or in storage. These measurements are much like getting a tape measure and measuring a person's height and then measuring the widest part of a person. Try making a piece of clothing to cover this person. It won't work because it doesn't take into account all the needed measurements to fit.

Serpentine tables unlike other tables, except maybe a half moon, need a cloth to contour to its shape not just cover it overall.

Some other tables commercially used are called feeder tables which are the same configuration as serpentines but are not as wide. Either way the formula to measure is the same.

First in this instance you must has a soft tape measure not a rigid one. Using the concept of a horseshoe take the tape measure and follow the curve of the outer portion of the table this is known as the outer arc, i.e., it is 96 inches, then measure the curve of the inner arc or inside of the table, i.e., it is 46 inches, next the width of the table, i.e., this is 30 inches then the height, which is normally but not always 30 inches. A quick note always measure from the top of the table to the floor or bottom of the table legs, if the table has wheels measure above the wheels.

Here is your measurement to get a tablecloth, skirting or fitted cloth for your table. Remember the table drop is based on a facilities needs and what look it created in the dining room.

12 Profit Boosting Business Tips

By Michael M Walsh

In the face of falling demand and intense competition every order has to be fought for. Getting it right isn't an option; it is a survival strategy. Business owners often become complacent leading to a haemorrhage of lost orders that can cripple a firm. Most failings are avoidable. Here are twelve tips to help you survive the crisis.

* Take the advice of your media advertising representative. They want you to succeed. A small advert placed frequently works better than the occasional larger one. Always use USP (unique selling points). Special offers for example.
* If you live in a bi-lingual area it doesn't cost much to make your website bi-lingual. You wouldn't put a notice on your door: 'English Speakers Only' would you? If the wording of your website or brochure is amateurish you will invite ridicule, not orders.
* Make better use of e-mails. They are real sales boosters when you know how. They have at least ten advantages over the telephone. I will list these shortly or e-mail me if you miss them.
* Poor signage is a no-no. How often I have heard it said: 'But our customers know where we are." Hello! The new ones do not. An attractive high visibility sign will be seen by hundreds, perhaps thousands a day.
* First impressions count. Sales are lost when potential clients telephone an answering machine. A telephone answering machine cannot answer questions, which is why most people call in the first place. Be polite; listen and respond transparently.
* If you are in business then being a sales person comes with the territory. Improve your people skills; be pleasant, informative, highlight the advantages of your service, and ask politely for the order. Never ignore a spouse or partner.
* If you don't get the close right you won't close. Be a pully-pully salesperson: Ask the customer; 'Which would you prefer?' or 'Would Tuesday be alright or might Wednesday be better for you?'
* Clients are offended and inconvenienced by poor timekeeping. If you are unavoidably delayed call them; explain; invite their understanding or suggest an alternative in order to avoid inconveniencing them.
* Customers are not stupid; do not treat them as though they are. Explain what has gone wrong, what is necessary to put it right and why.
* It is infuriating to be given a bill without a break down. If you do so you invite the allegation that you are cheating or over-pricing. Again, transparency keeps customers happy. Happy customers are your best sales staff.
* A man bought a business. The first thing he did was ask for a list of dormant clients. He discovered most had left due to poor service. By informing them of the change of ownership and addressing their concerns he learned lessons. Best of all he enticed most back.
* Always leave two or three business cards in your customer's home or premises; where they can be seen. Respectfully ask your customer to recommend you and ask if they have friends or family who may be interested in your service. The most important rule of all: Always thank your client for their custom.

By following these basic rules you can double, even treble your turnover without it adversely affecting your outgoings. ©

Do You Have to Have an Account to Ship With a Courier?

By Paul McDuffy Platinum Quality Author

When you first try to ship something with a courier company, most of the time the first thing they are going to ask you is if you want to sign up for an account with them. PA courier services may require that you open an account before you ship with them. There are couriers though, that won't require this, and will allow you to ship without having to open an account beforehand. However, there are several reasons why this might not be the best option, and why you might want to think about opening an account anyway.

The companies that will let you ship without opening an account are going to have other requirements of you before you can ship with them. Usually, the most important of these is that you are going to have to pay for any shipments up front before the courier will move anything. When you have an account, this isn't the case. You usually just have to put in an order for your shipment, and the courier will then bill you according to whatever your billing agreement is.

There are reasons for choosing to open an account that are valuable beyond just not having to pay for your shipments up front. The largest of these to most people is access to the host of other features and services which are available to account holders. Many of these are accessible through the company's website.

Some of these features include being able to indicate your wishes to the courier either online on the web or through email. For instance, account holders might have the ability to place an order online. They might also have access to things like an online address book with address verification so they can easily print accurate shipping labels and store all of their clients' addresses conveniently within the courier system.

For some companies though, there is no real practicality to opening a courier account, and it is important to take that into account as well. If you only ship once every several months, it is probably not worth opening an account at this time. If your shipping needs increase over time you can look into opening an account later. You can use your more sporadic shipping needs to test out several of the courier companies in the area. You can compare the rates that they can offer you, as well as the customer service they provide.

Does Your Staff Need Corporate Workwear?

By M James Platinum Quality Author

If your staff are not office based, and don't wear a shirt and tie, then perhaps they would be better off wearing corporate workwear, instead of old T shirts, jeans and trainers.

1. If you run a shop, no matter how big or small, you might want your staff to wear a sort of uniform. Why not make sure that they have the right work clothing, so they are still comfortable and able to carry out their duties?

2. Your warehouse staff might never meet your customers, but you'll still want them to take a pride in their appearance, and their job, so why not make sure that look just as smart and presentable as your customer facing staff?

3. Your delivery drivers might be the face of your company. If your customers order online, or by phone, then your drivers will be the only real people they deal with. It's important that they look smart and give the right impression of your company at all times.

4. If you're a company of electricians, then your customers and clients will want to know that you're professional, are up to the job, and will turn up to do the job. Why not prove that you're more than capable of fitting new plug sockets, or wiring up a huge construction project, by looking the part.

5. If you're a firm of plumbers, then your staff might have to work in some awkward locations and positions. Why not make sure that they have padded trousers with kneepads, and the other additional corporate workwear they need, so that they can do the job quickly and efficiently?

6. Perhaps you run a painting and decorating firm, and it might be deemed acceptable in your sector for your staff to turn up in paint spattered clothing every day. Why not see if you can smarten your staff up, and give them polo shirts with the company name and contact details on? This will make them look much more professional, and could even get you new customers.

7. You might have a team of onsite engineers that install or repair products. Why not make sure that they look smart and help to put your customers at ease at this potentially stressful time?

8. Your staff might work outside in all weathers, and need to stay warm and dry whilst carrying out their tasks. Would they be better off in warm and waterproof clothing?

9. You might run a media or marketing company and want to appear smart to your clients, and yet you don't need to wear a suit and tie in your office. Why not get some polo shirts with your logo and contact details on, and see if the free advertising helps?

10. No matter what your business does, if you don't wear a shirt and tie to work, and still want your staff to look smart then you could do with corporate workwear. Think of how much more professional and capable your staff will look, and the impression you will give to your existing and future clients by looking the part.

Now you know more about why you need it, perhaps now is the time to make sure that your staff have all the corporate workwear they need.
